Dear friends,
It is with profound joy that we welcome you to Concordia Theological Seminary, Nagercoil —a place where faith, scholarship, and community come together in service to Christ. Founded in 1924 by the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s (LCMS) mission wing Missouri Evangelical Lutheran India Mission (MELIM) and administered by the India Evangelical Lutheran Church (IELC), our seminary stands as one of the oldest theological institutions in India. For the past one hundred years, we have walked hand in hand with the India Evangelical Lutheran Church (IELC) and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), nurturing generations of faithful servant leaders for the Indian Church.
Concordia Theological Seminary is more than a campus—it is sacred ground where pastors, church lay leaders and deaconesses are formed through prayer, study, and fellowship. Our mission is to equip men and women for ministry in the Lutheran Church across India and South Asia. As an institution affiliated with the Senate of Serampore College (University), we also welcome students from other Christian traditions, enriching the life of the wider Church. As a centenary-old theological institution in India, we are dedicated to academic excellence and spiritual discipline, motivated by genuine spiritual devotion to Christ and His Church. Our faculty—dedicated, experienced, and deeply rooted in the Word—guide students through a curriculum that includes Holy Scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, Systematic Theology, Church History and Mission, Communication, Comparative Religion and Society, and Practical Theology. Every class, chapel service, and conversation is part of a holistic journey that shapes hearts and minds for ministry. Our cocurricular programs and activities are designed to nurture the whole person so that each student grows into a faithful pastor, a visionary servant, and a courageous leader for Christ’s Church in India.
To our students: may your presence in our seminary be a season of nurture, discovery, and deepening faith. May your time at Concordia Theological Seminary affirm your calling and prepare you to serve with wisdom, compassion, and courage.
To our friends, prayer partners, and supporters: thank you for journeying with us. We invite you to explore our digital presence, pray for our mission, and support us with joyful and generous hearts. The resources we share on this portal are meant to help you engage God’s Word and share His love with clarity and grace.
As we move beyond our centenary celebrations, we give thanks for God’s faithfulness and look ahead with hope. It is our prayer that our seminary continues to be a beacon of light for the Church in India and beyond, proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations.
With gratitude and peace,
In Christ’s service
Rev. Dr. T. Samuel
